the dictionary defines property as
* any trait or attribute proper to a thing
* any principle characteristics of a substance especially as determined
by the senses or by its effect on another substance
* an essential quality common to all members
* characteristics of numbers or things or some condition they satisfy
properties are also foundational mathematical principles that are assumed to be true
examples are:
the associative property - (1+3)+5 = 1+(3+5)
the commutative property - 3 x 9 = 9 x 3
the distributive property - a(b+c) = ab + ac
it took me some time to grasp what a property was. i suppose reiteration here does not hurt retention. but i guess reiteration never did hurt retention in the first place.
