the fetch-execute cycle is the process a computer repeats a given number of times to accomplish a specific task. the computer will retrieve code, process the code, retrieve more code, process that code and so on until the task is accomplished. the task may be launching a web browser, saving a word processing file or computing values in a spreadsheet.
